MPD stamp by in-neon-motels MPD stamp by in-neon-motels
Dissociative Personality Disorder (DID) or Multiple Personality Disorder (MPD) - whatever your country calls it.

How can the other personalities be simply "alters" when they have their own thoughts, hopes, dreams, feelings, hobbies..? I believe these "alters" are people just as I am!

Actually, I have DID and my therapist has been trying to get me to integrate my alters. It's not healthy keeping them like I am and our, people like you and I, need to be ourselves. Not our alters. We need to try to combine them all into one! :>

Ohmgod I really really agree with you here.

Integrating defeats the purpose of the alters. I exist to help whenever Jason or Elise is too down in the dumps to do anything. They can't get out of bed, so I will. Al's relapsing?? Again?? Let me help. Rogue is being a lil bitch to Andrew again?? I'll deal with it.

Integrating would be bad for us :c

Lol.

Because suffering from D.I.D. is happy happy joy joy. There is nothing bad about it at all. There is nothing self-harming about it at all. And you are totally always aware of what your alters are doing and you don't suffer from black-outs and you have a perfectly normal social life.
Read a book.

No, it's not all happy fun times, but integrating defeats the fucking purpose of the alters.

I refuse to integrate because I'm still needed.

Fuck you.

You don't understand do you? You can't CHOOSE to get over something. You can't CHOOSE to merge or integrate. That's not up to you. That's up to your brain. And YOU can't choose that.

Integrating is fucking painful. It hurts physically and mentally. But no. Some of you guys are like "Oh, I just merged it was fine" even the most passive of alters fucking hurt when they form or when they merge.

Saying you refuse to merge is like saying "I refuse to get over my MENTAL ILLNESS." "I refuse to get over the pain in my head, the sleeplessness at night, and I refuse to do something about my friends and family alienating me."

MPD is not some pretty illness where your alter comes and goes as YOU please. It's a fucking serious medical condition that doesn't go away because you want it. Resulting from abuse. (most of the time) Are you proud of the fact that you were abused? Are you proud that you have a MENTAL CONDITION as a result of that? If you have a cold, and refuse to get better, either it will get WORSE, or it WILL go away. But you can't have a common cold for the rest of your life.

TL;DR: You cannot CHOOSE to merge. Your brain decides that for you. and YOU have no control over your brain.

PS: I DOUBT that most of you even HAVE MPD, and are just merely naming your emotions, or believe that the voice in your head that EVERYBODY has is just an 'alter.'

Late comment is late, but;

DID is not the problem. Having alters is not the problem. The problem was the rape that caused the DID, and the co-morbid PTSD. The alters themselves can do quite a bit to hurt the host, that's true. But they can heal and accept the abuse without integrating. In some cases, yes, accepting the abuse causes automatic integration. In other cases, the host has had DID since they were two years old. Their brain is literally wired differently because of the affects of the abuse during key developmental stages. This wiring allowed for the DID in the first place, and it won't change. So it's entirely possible that integration won't occur.

And being proud of having DID means one is proud of having SURVIVED the abuse. Am I proud of being abused? Fuck no. Am I proud (or at least relieved) that my mind managed to keep me alive by splitting? Well, it's better than being dead, I'd like to think.

I know this is uber late, but there are ways to recover and remain multiple, just because someone doesn't want to integrate, doesn't mean they don't want to be well.

This is so damned true for me. I actually have Multiplicity and also suffer from Manic Depression and I know I'd be in a bad place if I got rid of my other personalities. Sure, they may get in the way at times and they've lost me some friends because they think I'm insane, but nonetheless, I know I couldn't do without them. I've used this stamp for a while and I still think it's awesome.

My goal in therapy is so my people can have another person to talk to, so we can all have therapy, and so the therapist can help us live as a functioning system. I CANNOT possibly imagine life as a singlet and I don't want to :D My people help me so much, I have family and friends in there I would be morning for a very long time.
Thank you so much for this. Is there anyway you could make it into a plz account so people who don't have a paid account can use it?

Me too I have DID (this DA account here is name after one of my alters)
What doctors don't tell you is the severe depression you go through after they gone and a lot health issues I watch a friend of mine who deiced to do this and it wasn't pretty.

I'm so attached to mine I will never part from them they're not hurting anyone or me so I don't see a reason too they have their own lives why would i want to end it, they are my friends, my companions and my protectors, they are my brothers and sisters. I thank you for making this stamp.

I have one personality that makes it very clear he hates being called an alter and wants to be called his name instead of that gives my doctors hell.

I'm happy that I have a friend like you Neko B I think in a strange way my personalities and yours have become friend on their own i just hate it when they argue and we dont know about it and wonder how we got the bruises we got on ourselves other than that my ups and down with them is not easy to live with.

BTW got to figure out how we can get Suki to stopped cleaning my house when you come over. I think i rather be friends with people who have it too because when I'm around people who don't they treat me weird or stay a few feet away from me makes me feel unwanted and makes them upset as well.

my alters are my family, my friends, I love them with all of my heart, just like people might love a sibiling, a parent, a best friend. How could i just get rid of them!?

I guess I can see the point of Intergration, Its just not for me!! Or a lot of people I know with DID.

I like this stamp.
I think every person should make their own decision if they want to integrate or not.
I know some that speak really good about it, they say it's not loosing the others, it's more like become a lot closer to each other.
And on the other side I have a friend that refuses to integrate and I totally udnerstand that.

For me, as I'm not multy it's hard to describe, but I think therapists and otehr people should just accept the opinions of the MPD-People.

(Sorry for my bad english)

Hell yeah! We are sick of all the bullshit people say about us! Getting rid of an alter is just like losing a friend, even if you don't agree with them or even don't like them much, they are as close as someone can get.

I always wondered how an alter would feel like if they were about to intregrate.
Since to integrate means they'll be gone afterwards it must be like dying, in a way.

Sort of scary.

It's not death entirely...
But is the complete loss of one's feeling of being a seperate person, being free from thought-processes that you yourself don't approve or agree with.
Basically it's like thinking of going from running around an open field to being squished with a few other people into a single tight room... Only you don't really see anyone else there, you just feel crowded like they are there.
